Reflecting On Game Pitch Feedback

David believed that my story and concept were engaging and interesting; he also thought the ideas of having unlockable skins and the game being both a plat-former and hack and slash game at once were unique. I agree with these opinions especially about the story, however, his main point across the more “”negative”” feedback was that, because of time limitations, my final product would possibly not be able to fulfill every criteria I set myself. I would agree with this also, seeing as how i’m still in my early days of coding and i’m not the most confident with it. He gave the example of skins being removed to give me more time however a better idea i think would be to implement all skins and other bonus content AFTER the core game reaches completion therefore not wasting any time.

Luke, just like David, gives praise to the unique narrative and lore, but also adds in that he appreciates how the game references other older N64 titles with how the overall game will feel which is exactly what i’m going for. He says he would develop my game further by adding “little secrets” into each level by making the player “complete puzzles”, this isn’t a bad idea however i already planned on this, the Vinyls you collect in each level will be hidden around the areas of the game behind puzzles of platforming challenges etc. Overall though, Luke had little to nothing negative to say about my game pitch.

Firstly, from what Tony says about developing my idea alone, I would hire him for my PR or advertising team, bloody spooky skateboard, yes please. Moving onto what he liked, he specifically mentions liking the spooky setting and, like everyone and I agree on, the lore and story I’ve come up with. He also liked the sound of my main character Roxanne. If Luke had almost no negative critique, Tony’s feedback had a big fat NONE

Lastly, Owens feedback kinda feels like he only skimmed through my pitch. Demarcus doesn’t successfully revive the devil into any host body, in fact you as Roxanne wouldn’t even be able to complete the game if this were true as Mr Devilsson actually intends to revive the devil into HER body after seeing she is powerful. He also misunderstands the fifth question about a realistic pitch, instead detailing that spells and the devil aren’t real. Ignoring these parts, Owen doesn’t really give any real feedback, instead just saying he likes random information from the structure paragraph, some of which as said isn’t even true. He did however compliment the game and its abundance of information at the bottom, as well as said I need to detail about the games audio which i completely agree on and will do

Final Thoughts and Self Feedback

My final thoughts, influenced by both the four shown and Kieth’s feedback, are that my games strongest feature so far is the overall sound of the plot mixed in with the setting and how the whole game revolves around the cartoon spooky art style. I believe the games plot has a serious aspect to it, however the funny villains and the fact you spend the game collecting music and chopping zombies to bits really shows off why the game will be cartoony and overall more fun based as oppose to taking any of it too seriously. The feedback about possibly not being able to fit in all of the ideas I’ve had, while valid, isn’t a point I take as good feedback seeing as how in a games creation period, ideas are added and removed frequently. Yes, the time constraints could limit my creative control, but if i think an idea is truly substantial enough to the game that it must be added, it’ll be added as soon as possible. As somebody who has never created a proper game before, my confidence for what I could make is neither high or low, but from the feedback I’ve had i can say for certain as a concept my game has a brilliant base to work off of and that, if correctly built upon, my game could thrive. In conclusion, I believe I simply need to think about a few aspects still including audio, who could possibly help out, textures and overall look of the game as well as how I can translate my ideas from words into code and have the functional game of my dreams.
